Fred Perry Centenary Party -- That's 100 Years, Y'all! :
>
World Champion, Judah Friedlander was on hand to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of FRED PERRY at SPIN, a table tennis club in NYC. I guess it sorta makes sense, you know, Fred Perry... Tennis... And renting out Arthur Ashe centre court would have been a bit much... So yeah, they flew in The Friendly Fires to play a 6'ish song set. I hadn't heard them before, but I had sorta, in a way, since there were moments when I expected to hear a shriek of "SISTERRR SAVIOURRRR!!". I'm sure I'm not the first person to mention that, and I totally don't mean it as a criticism since I love The Rapture, but anyway, yeah. They were cute and fun though.
Also, Fred Perry had a bunch of installations of its style thru the decades and branded ping-pong tables, and a special (cocaine themed?) mirrored ones in the Fred Perry backroom. Oh, and Fred Perry swizzle sticks for the mixed drinks! Gin and tonics might have made more sense than margaritas, but hey, can't complain too much.

Fred Perry, thru the decades. The far right poster depicting the Fred Perry x Raf Simons collaboration..
Me, with Aisha Speirs (Surface Magazine). I'm wearing an SNS sweater and a JUNYA WATANABE shirt in case anyone is wondering...
Maybe Fred Perry flew him this guy in as a table tennis expert, because this Chinese dude was KILLING it.
LEFT: Sooooo not going to happen, part one. Steven Rojas (Archetype Showroom) and Chioma Nnadi (Fader Magazine).
RIGHT: Sooooo not going to happen, part deux. Steven Rojas and Laura Brown (Bowery Hotel). Anyway, he's mine...
LEFT: Aisha with fashion designer Timo Weiland
RIGHT: A.OK buyer/manager, Bear Smith
