RAFW 2010: Dion Lee:
Last year, my first time in Sydney for RAFW, everyone was buzzing about DION LEE, so I dragged my ass out of bed to the 9am show in an underground parking lot somewhere not-near my hotel... Well worth it. This year, I got a little extra-ambitious and visited Dion in his studio shortly before the show. He was super gracious, and he & Holly from Golightly PR gave us a little rundown on the collection. As you know, me not so good at talking about clothes, so I'll link to Susie Bubble's post about the show, and just get to the piccies. But my favorites were the Rorschach digital prints that took lives of their own whilst in motion, the heels constructed of homegrown crystals (was tempted to lick it to see if it was salty...), and the pleated-braid dresses which were awesome on the hanger, but were complete heart-stoppers in the sunlight at Sydney Opera House, where the runway show was held. BTW, the venue, setting, and music were like perfect...
I remember seeing The Strokes residency at Mercury Lounge and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Brownies, and you know when you see a new band and you get the "Oh shit, they're gonna be huge" vibe? Kinda like that.
Stockists: Blonde Venue (Brisbane), Land's End (Sydney), Pretty Dog (Sydney), Eight Million (Tokyo), Inhabit (Singapore), Bauhaus (Hong Kong), Online at My Catwalk

Dion Lee will go with the sunny and bright atmosphere of Sydney, it will take professional videographers to capture the beauty of the dresses under the sunlight.
Wow! Very gorgeous and interesting collection. Where are Dion Lee pieces available? I love the use of negative, or skin space. And the heels remind me of wedding favors that you'd find on your table at the reception. Very tasteful.
