Style.com's - "Japanese Paparazzi":

Oh boy... I saw the title of this video on style.com, and thank God I'm not anywhere in it in the background. But anyways, people sometimes ask me what its like doing street-style photography at Paris Fashion Week, and this clip is a good introduction to the madness outside the Tuileries, Place Vendome, Palais de Tokyo, Carreau du Temple, and other Paris fashion show venues. I've been doing Paris Fashion Week for 5 or 6 seasons now, and though the number of photographers has multiplied, I can always count on seeing a few friendly (and also not so friendly faces).

(Left: Maybe she's a French celebrity since these photogs are more paparazzi-type, than street-style photogs. Right: Julia Frakes from Paper Mag and Bunny Bisous)

I'm usually hanging out with Tommy from Jak & Jil and Pete from Superfantasticpicturetime & Elle US, with Stylesightings Eddie dragging editors and models halfway across the park for the "perfect" shot, Scott Sartorialist and Garance Dore floating around, Altamira Craig catching off-duty models for TeenVogue, Kemal from Style & City who smiles up in my face then posts photos of me and Jak & Jil referring to us as "Japanese photographers always ruining his shots"... And then there's Vicki and Harriet from Grazia and Elle UK who we love, and then George (or was it Johan?) from some Dutch magazines, and redhead Geraldine who I've seen for years but have barely spoken to, and a French woman who always wears drop-crotch pants, that old guy with the jacked-up teeth who always scares away the models, a pair of unpleasant Frenchwomen who are like vultures, and then of course the legion of Japanese photographers as seen in the style.com video...

(Some things I'll get on my knees for, but definitely not for a photo of a pair of shoes...)

BTW, did Anna Della Russo really just refer to herself as "regular people" in the video?

I had the pleasure of meeting Kemal during NY Fashion Week and he's quite a character. Anyway, it's also interesting that Style finally did a story on the Japanese Paparazzi because I've also been noticing the number of Japanese photogs increasing at an alarming rate!
